104. Camping at OLYM

Most park campgrounds operate on a first-come, first-served basis.  There are two exception, the Kalaloch Campground, which takes reservations for the summer season, and Sol Duc Campground, which takes reservations March through October.  Site availability changes rapidly in the summer, but as a general rule arriving mid-week and earlier in the day improves your chance of obtaining a site.  Holiday weekends are particularly popular and busy, so plan accordingly.  During the off-season some campgrounds may close or become primitive.  Check at the Visitor Center for the latest campground info.

Visitors planning an overnight trip into the park backcountry are required to get a Wilderness Camping Permit.  Press 1.4 for more information.  Whether in a drive-in campground or in the backcountry all food must be secured from wildlife and park regulations require visitors to stay at least 150 feet away from wild animals.
