3. Lake Crescent Greeting

Lake Crescent is a beautiful, glacially-carved lake over 600 feet deep.  In addition to its many shades of brilliant blue water, the lake is notable for its two unique types of fish, the Beardslee trout and Crescentii trout, which were isolated in the lake by geologic processes.  A massive landslide from Mount Storm King cut off the fish from Indian Creek, their route to the ocean, and created Lake Sutherland to the east.

Lake Crescent is accessed by Highway 101, which wraps around the south lakeshore.  Drive carefully on the curving highway, and watch for bicyclists.
