32. Lake Crescent Lodge

On the south shore of Lake Crescent, about 25 miles west of Port Angeles is Lake Crescent Lodge.  The lodge was built in 1916 and has cabins, motel rooms and rooms in the historic lodge building available for rent.  There is also a dining room, lounge and coffee bar, gift shop and boat rentals.  President Franklin D. Roosevelt journeyed to the Peninsula in the fall of 1937 and visited Lake Crescent Lodge.  He later signed into law the creation of Olympic National Park in 1938.  The Moments in Time Nature Trail begins at the lodge and is a flat 0.6 mile loop through old growth forest.
