Second and Third Beaches are great places to day hike in the Mora area. Follow Highway 110 toward La Push and watch for trailhead signs. The hike to Second Beach is a short .7 miles and winds through coastal forest before descending to a lovely sandy beach with tide pools and seastacks. Second Beach is a great place to watch the sunset and is popular with photographers. The 1.4-mile hike to Third Beach is slightly longer, and also will give you a taste of coastal forest before you get to explore the sandy beach. Backpackers should contact the Wilderness Information Center for more information about permits, food storage and essential tide information. On all the beaches, enjoy ocean views, sea stacks and keep an eye out for bald eagles, seals and sea birds.
