561. Lake Ozette

Lake Ozette, stretching 8 miles long and 3 miles wide, is the third largest lake in Washington.  The best way to appreciate its serene beauty is to get out on the water.  Boat launches at the Ozette Campground and Swan Bay provide access for canoes, kayaks and motor boats. With a backcountry permit – available from the Wilderness Information Center – you can pass a secluded evening on one of the lake’s two islands, or camp at Ericson’s Bay on the west shore. Due to the sheer size of Lake Ozette, dangerous waves can form even on relatively mild summer days, so good boating skills and life jackets are a must.
